As a medium sized business, should I have to worry about legislation forcing me to be more 'green'?

Yes. In 2008 there was legislation introduced to force companies to limit their carbon footprint, and requiring those companies with a higher usage of carbon to register, under what is called the 'CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme'. See the Environment Agency website for more details on this.
